Sapthip is located in Lopburi and produces ethanol from cassava roots and chips for fuel with a production capacity of 200,000 liter per day. Ethanol is produced by fermentation of cassava under the process of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF). At present, the wastewater outlet from the dewatering process, called thin slops, is sent to the sediment soil pond (80,000 – 100,000 m³) for further settling of the suspended solids. However, each year this sedimentation soil pond is entirely filled with
residual solids and Sapthip has to dig a new pond. Thus, Sapthip intends to improve the Waste Water Treatment System.
